I was watching a movie with when suddenly my sister burst in and told me to look outside. Tons of water was flowing from the streets down the driveway. As our house is lowered from the street it was starting to flood the garden, and when I say flood I mean FLOOD. You literally could not see the grass and the backyard - it was all just one massive pond. If it kept going like this for another 5 minutes it would have reached the house.
Anyway I got Jammy-Say to help me get out some wood from the garage and make a blockade at the front gate to slow down the water rushing in from the streets. After about 10 minutes we got a pretty good blockade going, although water was still flowing through there was not enough to reach the house. There were some fuckers speeding down the street and creating huge wake which toppled over the blockade and almost pushed it over, so I had to go out on the street and tell them to slow the fuck down for about half an hour until the authorities finally came and blocked off the whole fucking place.
It was a sight to see. Imagine your whole street, the one you live in, completely submersed in water. This photo was taken after the water subsided a bit, but it was much higher than this. That's the house opposite mine. On the upside it was a great photo opportunity.
I remember a time when i lived in victoria I was about 16, our town flodded during a winter downpour due to the bank up of the Murray River & tributaries etc...
Living in an area that was an old river bed, we had quiet a bit of "swamp land" surrounding our house on the outskirts of town. My younger brother and older cousin decided it would be a great idea to rig up our small yacht and see how far into town they could sail!
They made it to a park on the main highway, had their photograph taken for the local newspaper and ended up promptly being told off by the local authorities for playing in polluted waters!!!

jeeeeeeeez, that's intense man. you certainly got a great shot of it tho
amidst all the chaos of flooding and such, it's good to see you still thought of it as a good photograph opportunity apparently flash flooding was worst around the oaklands park area and nearby suburbs, so i was probably lucky we didn't get any at my place too

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
